Bathroom Refresh

This bathroom was one of my favorite projects because it was one of those rare times I felt like everything really came together.

The…BEFORE…

Yikes. It’s not that it was unclean but when I moved into my husband's apartment after we were married, the bathroom was really just about utility. There was nothing about it that was appealing or pleasant. It wasn't decorated at all or had any sort of personalization whatsoever.

Since it is an apartment, I couldn’t make any permanent changes but wanted to create as as much architecture and texture as possible.

My number one goal was to make it brighter and stylish…and not be gross anymore haha.

I knew from the beginning I was going to cover the floor with the temporary sticky tiles and I had an idea to create custom mirrors. Everything else beyond that was somewhat negotiable.

After having a great experience with the Rustoleum Tile Paint (linked below) in our kitchen I knew I wanted to use it in our bathroom. For only a couple of bucks it really makes such a difference, brightening everything up and it’s very durable. Plus, it’s also pretty easy to remove with CitriStrip if you ever have to.

I decided to paint the vanity green so I made a couple swatches with my final two color choices. I ended up going with a darker shade of green which felt richer and I liked better with the rug I would be using.

I figured out a great way to add non-permanent texture to the vanity by adding half-rounds to the doors. We attached the half-rounds with tiny Brad nails, no glue, so they’re removable and then added brass pulls I found at Rejuvenation (linked below). The custom mirrors were made at a local shop which was my one big splurge and Wesley built a small floating shelf for them to sit upon.

I really love the way it turned out. It’s now my favorite room in our apartment!
