Bathroom Spruce Up with Dunn-Edwards Paints
I partnered up with Dunn-Edwards Paints to give our bathroom a little spruce up. I was just really tired of the white walls and wanted to add a little warmth. It's amazing what a little paint can do!
Before I start designing a room I always like to put together a design board to gather the elements and colors I want to incorporate. Not only does it keep me organized but it really helps me see the overall atmosphere I’m trying to create. If it feels too little or too much I can always add or takeaway to balance it out.
For the paint, I decided to go with Dunn-Edwards deluxe Exquisite paint line. I definitely wanted to add some color to the walls and landed on this nude pink color called Gypsum Rose DET452. It’s still light and provides a great base for the art pieces I found.
I wanted to change up the design of the vanity drawer and doors so I pulled off the fluted design and found this trim and half-beaded design I liked. I created an apartment friendly version and applied it to the vanity.
I decided to go with the color Deco Gray DET609 for the vanity and love how soft it is on the eyes. I still wanted to stay with a green color but something that felt more moody so I went with a green that had some gray in it.
The trim and half-beads design really turned out great and when we move I’ll just pop them off, remove the sticky vinyl covering from the doors/drawer and they’ll be back to normal.
Finally, I chose Whisper DEW340 for the ceiling and moulding to keep it bright and make the space look bigger. We added trim moulding with a couple pin nails to the walls to create the illusion of the ceiling being a little higher than it actually is. It’s a simple addition which adds another piece of architecture to draw the eye.
The final major changes I added were new peel & stick tile to the floor and sticky vinyl to the vanity and shower tile.
I’ve become a huge fan of sticky floor tile and for a small price, they make such a massive impact to a room. Here’s my Peel & Stick Vinyl Tile video to show you how to apply them in an apartment friendly way.
I wanted to experiment with the sticky vinyl on the tile just to see how it would turn out and so far I think it looks great. Since this guest bathroom doesn’t get a ton of moisture I’m hoping everything stays put.
Lastly, I was inspired by this little stool with wavy legs that I found online and decided to DIY my own version. I then added some decor to fill out the space and really love how it all turned out! What do you think?
